Press briefing from Swedish EU minister Hans Dahlgren today. Sweden takes over the EU presidency from Czech Rep. on January 1st 2023. He said, quote: "We must continue to work with unity within our union, to continue to put pressure on Ruzia, continue to isolate Ruzia, but also continue to support Ukraine politically, economically, humanitarily, and not least, militarily. And to keep together this unity that we have had so far, it's been a bit shaky sometimes but it has held, and at the same time keep pushing for even more forceful actions. This might be a central issue during the Swedish presidency". π
He had Ruzia's invasion of Ukraine at the top of his Powerpoint page, with the most important agenda points. Ukraine will get strong support from Sweden. ππ
The EU presidency rotates between the EU countries, and lasts for 6 months at a time. Whoever is doing the presidency has to lead meetings between all the EU member states.
