The military forces within the EU could and should deal with this. I say this as an EU citizen. Europe is our land, so we should defend it. The Balkans and The Baltics are two different areas. One is in northern Europe, the other in southern Europe. It is unbelievably frustrating that our politicians are doing so little. By that I mean EU politicians.

@AM-el4iv Or we will sit on our hands and watch Ukraine get obliterated, as we have been doing for the past 3 weeks. :( I do hope we will act instead. Even if we don't do the no-fly zone, we should at least provide air support. Europe has nice fighter planes. We should use them.

Like one commentator said, "I hope they like the cold". It could be another one of Putin's lies again. We'll see. The most recent report is that 16,000 foreigners have gone to fight for Ukraine. So it's a little bit too convenient that Putin is shipping in 16,000 foreign mercenaries on his side. It could just be BS.

As for the MIG's that are needed: The Polish could park the MIG's near the Ukrainian border and leave them there. The Ukrainians can then tow the MIG's over the border, and use them. There is historical precedent. American planes were towed over the Canadian border in 1940, to go to Britain. Or fly the MIG's to a neutral country and take off from there directly for Ukraine. We in Europe should be throwing everything we can at Ukraine. Because we are next to be invaded if we don't.

Hmm, but why were only 100 out of 6,000 US soldiers selected for the Ukrainian Foreign Legion? Because when it comes to European volunteers the Ukrainians are accepting people with no military background at all. Is it because it is easier to ship home a European person if something happens to them? It doesn't make sense otherwise. You'd think they would accept more people. There is a video of a British guy getting accepted to go to Ukraine. He and his friend hadn't even done military service. The video is, Ukraine invasion: The Brits volunteering to go to Ukraine and fight the Russians.

Gotland is also a possible next target. There was a Russian incursion with 4 fighter jets near Gotland a few days ago. Gotland is not NATO. Moldova is also not NATO. My guess it that Putin will go for non-NATO areas/countries first. Gotland was invaded by Russia in the 1800's. We know that the Russians still want that island since they keep sniffing around it. Putin has now seen that he can attack non-NATO areas and not much happens.

@alexandremanuellobo7030 Yup. The EU should have some sort of joint defence. Every EU country has their own military. But we don't seem to have any coordination between us. Our politicians are just talking, and not doing much.

@hdlkm1145 Yes, we in the EU rely way too much on the US. It's biting us in the butt right now, when we should be acting instead of talking.

New information video in English about the Ukrainian Foreign Legion. They now have an English-speaking spokesperson that can explain how it works. Well worth watching. Video International fighters joining Ukrainian foreign legion, CTV News. Edit: The spokesperson is not British. But the interview is in English and done in London by a Canadian interviewer. (Apparently the guy being interviewed speaks 5 languages. So I can see why they picked him to be a spokesperson).

@Jake Broe. Video idea for you. Explain to people who want to volunteer in Ukraine that they shouldn't go if they are clueless and don't know what they're doing. There is a follow-up video to the famous Sky video, with that guy who didn't even know which army he was joining. Apparently he went to Ukraine, ran around like a headless chicken for a bit, and then returned to Britain. The Ukrainians are at war. They shouldn't have to waste their time on people like that. The second video is on Scarcity Studios. Or search for Leon Dawson, that might also bring up the video.

One video I saw stated that 15% of the Ukrainian army are voluntary female fighters. So it's not just male fighters. It's not just Ukrainians either. There are several videos on Youtube of people coming from all over the world to go and fight in Ukraine. One elderly woman took out a Russian drone with a jar of something (pickles, tomatoes, reports vary). Literally all Ukrainians within the country will fight the Russians.

That NATO thing Putin spouts is just a pretence, as are his other "reasons" for invading Ukraine. It has nothing to do with it. What Putin actually wants is to recreate the Soviet Union.

@JakeBroe I sure hope so. I hope the EU sends Western fighter jets (we have to send the pilots too). To me it seems the politicians are spending far too much time just talking, instead of acting.

@aaroncabatingan5238 I don't know if you have noticed, but NATO isn't doing much to help Ukraine. That is why the EU needs its own military force, as I said. We need to defend our own land. Not wait for someone who doesn't care about our land to defend it, since that is not going to happen. Europeans actually care about Europe. The US clearly does NOT care about Europe. That has been proven beyond any doubt these past few weeks. And the US is calling the shots when it come to NATO. Hence NATO is not very useful in Europe. Edit. Just in case you think sanctions work, remember that Iran has been sanctioned since 1979, and Cuba has been sanctioned for 60 years. There will not be a Ukraine left after decades of war, while we wait for the sanctions to not work.
