Buttigieg ran for treasurer of Indiana, a statewide office, in 2010 and despite saying nice things about the Tea Party got crushed by the Republican by 23 points. That's why he never ran for governor or Senate. It would be suicide for the Democrats to nominate this guy.

@William-Morey-Baker he's clearly searching for a way to stay in politics. He was by most accounts a lousy mayor and seems to have gotten by largely on the fact that he is very articulate. Odds are he will be put down hard in the SC primary and disappear from politics.

@nedlightowlers5168 my guess is Silicon Valley is largely funding him because they know he will take a hands-off approach to their increasingly undemocratic but hugely profitable business practices.
