Mr. Steele, the Republican Party that you knew prior to 2010 no longer exists. Time to leave it.

I taught American history, so yes I know American history, far better than you do at that. And don't speak in terms of one party being all good while the other is all bad, history is never that simplistic.

I agree, the two basically are in sync on policy. The only difference is Trump is more honest about being an atrocious human being.

I didn't "omit" anything, YOU brought up the Southern Strategy, which you know very little about at that. There is a big difference between political biases which BOTH parties catered to throughout history, including the 1960s, and the dramatic change in POLICY that occurred with Obama's election in 2008. If you want to argue history with me you need more knowledge and critical thinking for me to take you seriously.

Numinous, your knowledge of how politics work and how public policy is made is an 1/8 of an inch deep. Your fantasy about progressive purity will only lead to severe disappointment for you come 2018 and 2020. Politics is about timing and the art of the possible.
1
your reading of American politics is completely simplistic and skewed to some ridiculous utopian fantasy about all good and all bad parties. You also completely lack any understanding of who I am and what I know about history. You are out of your depth here.

EVERYTHING you've said is wrong, especially in the context in which you made it. You are not even making a coherent argument of any kind. You heard the term southern strategy somewhere without any scholarly understanding of the subject of racism in American politics, a very broad subject at best, and one which I can expound for hours on end, but not with someone as shallow as you seem to be.
1
yes, there was a southern strategy that he GOP adopted in 1968, but political racism is much broader than that. If your argument is that Republican racism began at that time you have made a stupid and incorrect assumption. Make a coherent argument and I will answer it. As for the defunct NY Press, I was never impressed with that Village Voice knock-off, except for its kick-ass adult classifieds, which I miss.
