William Jennings Bryan's Cross of Gold speech was so powerful that the Dems nominated him for President in 1896. Huey Long deserves an honorable mention. And on any given Sunday a number of black preachers give the most powerful orations you will ever hear. Also, I agree, Hitler should be #1, and may we burn in hell for it.

  24. The black eye-patch Italian aristocrat Emilio Largo in TB is my favorite. His yacht Disco Volante is also badass. Goldfinger was one mad evil genius. Blofeld was great as a faceless criminal CEO but a little disappointing when we finally see him. Rosa Klebb as the fake commie lesbian and her psycho assassin Red Grant made a sick pair and along with Kronsteen the arrogant chess master were remarkable villains in FRWL.  Dr. No with his highwater slacks and white patent leather shoes looked ridiculous. Honorable mention; droll Hugo Drax, sadistic pedophile Kristatos, talented sociopath Scaramanga, elegant but sinister Kamal Khan, the dark Sanchez, snotty Brit Gustav Graves, and Orson Welles' flamboyant LeChiffre in the Bond comedy Casino Royale would have been awesome going up against Connery.

  25. Missed opportunity: Casino Royale, the non-Eon 1967 comedy. Strip away the gunk and crud, and you have a diamond inside. Imagine it coming out in '66, between Thunderball and You Only Live Twice, as a straight drama, with Connery and the Aston Martin, and keep Orson Welles as LeChiffre and the beautiful music (Herb Alpert score and the Look Of Love song) and maybe add Bridget Bardot as Vesper Lynd and you have loaded dynamite, possibly the Bond to end all Bonds. Oh well.

A View To A Kill, derivative by the numbers action, nothing new 15. The Living Daylights, Dalton disappointing, plays Bond like a slouching jerk who'd rather be elsewhere, overall lightweight action 16. Goldeneye, Brosnan too lughtweight pretty boy to be Bond, adequate story 17. Tomorrow Never Dies, tries for '60s retro, mostly fails 18. The World Is Not Enough, overall is far from the classic '60s era 19. Die Another Day, Halle Berry as seductive assassin/master spy? I don't think so. 20. Casino Royale, Craig reminds me of Lee Harvey Oswald, not my idea of great entertainment 21. Quantum of Solace, only interesting scene is Mr. White's cameo 22. Skyfall, highly overrated self-important foolishness 23. Moonraker, despite the droll villain Drax, embarrassing, strictly for little kids 24. Never Say Never Again, good to see Connery again, otherwise pointless gimmicky remake of the classic Thunderball

  41. most everyone seems satisfied with the make-believe ending. However, the real story is extremely chilling, I don't believe any amount of fictionalization can make me believe otherwise. I read the account in Time magazine after it happened, all of Hollywood was in genuine panic mode, and the 1976 tv movie Helter Skelter gave me nightmares as a teenager. I still cannot google the gruesome crime scene photos. This is one blot on history that will sadly never go away.

  55. even in the 70s I thought SWAT and Starsky & Hutch were outrageous parodies of the then-obsession with urban policing in the Patty Hearst era. Although occasionally witty, I thought Get Smart was for kids. I actually liked the Man From UNCLE, it's even somewhat more interesting than the tv series. Addams Family Values is that rare tv-to-movies artistic success. The Untouchables series was far superior to the movie, despite Connery's iconic performance, second only to Bond. As for M:I, the series is IMO the best ever made; the movie franchise are just action fests, they do not come close to the series' psychological mind games. And turn Jim Phelps, an American patriot, into a traitor and give him a dishonorable death? I'm still steamed about that nearly 30 years later. The Fugitive, tv series and movie, are equally as good, though for different reasons.

It is true that the Chicago press dubbed the local task force The Untouchables because they allegedly would not take bribes, but no one remembered Ness until he wrote ((with popular journalist Walter Winchell) his mostly exaggerated memoir The Untouchables before his death in 1957. The book was optioned by Desilu Studios for the tv series.

Bonanza: 4 men who are "related" but don't look at all alike and no women around whatsoever. Star Trek: basically a children's show set in space. Dick Van Dyke: he's every guy on the 5:10 from Grand Central to Scarsdale. Dr. Who: never once watched it. If I did I don't recall. Andy Griffith: the liberal decent response to Bull Connor. The Twilight Zone: some episodes are creepy to this day.

  101. you picked the wrong scene in Samurai Cop, one of the truly great bad films ever made btw. The ending samurai sword scene is good but the earlier fight between Joe and this little potato guy he chases down is a bonafide classic. Advice: watch the Rifftrax version.
