  1. evangelism is a heretic Christian sect that southern slaveowners developed in the early 1800s to justify their ownership of blacks. It gradually added bizarre beliefs like the Rapture, the Tribulation and being "born again," none of which have any basis in the actual Bible. Christianity itself did not become a religion until a century after Jesus' crucifixion. He certainly would not have endorsed a Catholic church. (I follow Christ's teachings in the New Testament but I am opposed to all organized religions as being extremely misinformed and harmful.)
