@dcallan812 I'd love to see these fancy machines that test all these properties on a vehicle examination. I've been a vehicle examiner for 20 years and never seen them....

@A_Stereotypical_Heretic I’ve seen phone apps that test lumens. But doing a roadworthy inspection in Australia doesn’t require a light meter. You need to be able to see both brake and tail lights from a 45 degree angle on either side of the vehicle and the headlight patterns have to be correct in a headlight aiming machine. Obviously they also have to be aimed correctly and dip to the correct side (Left, in our case). I manage all the private inspection stations in 1 state, there is no requirement for them to test lumens or candlepower or anything like that, nor is it compulsory for them to have the equipment required to do it
