I was a bus mechanic for a long time, bottle jacks were the only jack we used to lift buses. Of course you wouldn't get under one unless you also had stands, under both the chassis and the body. You'd actually be more likely to be squashed by an airbag blowing and the body dropping down than by a jack failing

@wing_nut_1018 Workers were paid under a union agreement, which mutually benefits both the company and the workers. Typical to blame the workers while ignoring the insane amounts of money being sucked up by GM fat cats running the place

@unfocusedclover9050 Sprint car racing is the best form of motorsport on the planet, imo. And yes, I've followed most forms of motorsport all my life

@AirspaceProductions The biggest problem, I believe, was that both Holden and Ford factories were only set up to produce front engine rear drive passenger cars. They desperately needed major upgrades or replacement, but neither companies' top management were willing to invest the money to do it. We saw in this video how much money Holden were making at one stage, I wonder where that went? Straight to the fat cats in Detroit I'd say. Then when it went belly up they just blamed the unions

@MTT-ic3ci The block was actually the weak point of the Cleveland, and last I checked they weren't aluminium, didn't have 6 bolt mains, have absolutely nothing in common with an LS block

@MTT-ic3ci hmm, drawing a long bow there I think. Apart from even port spacings I don't really see any other similarities. Then again, Holden used even spaced ports on the 304 black motor, so maybe GM copied their design? edit; You can actually bolt LS heads onto an old SBC and they will work, if you replace the cam as well, but they can't be successfully used on a SBF engine...
