This extensive operation resulted in the demise or imprisonment of more than a dozen CIA agents over a period of two years, significantly hampering intelligence gathering endeavors in China for an extended duration. Among the 212 CIA operatives deployed to China during that period, 101 met their demise while 111 were apprehended and detained.
