  1. And a few years later, Detroit Red Wings fans returned the kindness to Canada that Toronto Maple Leafs fans gave to the United States. As an American, regardless of how much bickering people in both countries may do about sports, politics, or whatever, I still think that Canada is our closest and best friend in the entire world. And I'm not at all ashamed to say so.
