It happened to me one time in Buffalo. On exit 9 of the 190, one set of lanes takes you to Canada, and the other takes you into a residential neighborhood on Buffalo's west side. One day, I became momentarily distracted and ended up unintentionally crossing the Peace Bridge because I got into the wrong lane. And you CAN'T turn around, not even if you go into the duty-free. The Canadian border cops were complete pricks, but once they were done and I got turned around, CBP on our side of the border were really cool and even somewhat sympathetic.
