Philly: "crime has never been this bad!" Also Philly: re-elects Krasner in a landslide.

If you grew up in Pennsylvania anytime from the 1970s to the year 2000, you've heard this. Doesn't matter if you're from Philly, Erie, Pittsburgh, or Scranton. If you ever watched the news, you know this song.

You're welcome, Philly. Love, PA taxpayers

WJET-TV 24 in Erie and WPXI 11 in Pittsburgh used it as well.

@Conky-or8ic I would have to say I agree with you. I'm a white person who has worked in several majority-black communities, and have even lived in a few. Most of them were full of well-kept homes, well-manicured yards, nice decorations on the houses, nice cars in the driveways, and nice people living in those houses. I've also lived in an almost entirely-white mobile home community full of trashy trailers, junk cars, and just overall obnoxious people who take absolutely no pride whatsoever in where or how they live. I've seen nice neighborhoods that are majority-white, and not so nice neighborhoods that are majority-minority. I really think it's all in how you were raised and how you view the world around you.

I'm from Erie and WJET used this song, too. As did WPXI in Pittsburgh and WNEP in Scranton. It's most commonly associated with Philly and WPVI, but this could very well be our state song.

No, I don't remember that. But I remember the time Wilson Goode did, though. Seeing as how Rizzo was out of office and Goode was the mayor of Philadelphia when that happened.

This is exactly what happened to an elderly woman in Fishtown about 5 years ago or so. Some investor hired cheap, unlicensed, unqualified labor to work on the building next to hers, and they screwed over the firewall between her building and the building next to hers that they were working on. She barely had enough time to get her valuables out of the house before it was ordered demolished under emergency circumstances.

Just put up another statue of Rocky.

@utah2nyc250 exactly. They don't care anymore now that Parking Wars is over with.

Camden has been getting progressively better the last several years or so.

I doubt it. It's more than likely due to unlicensed, unqualified contractors working on the neighboring property who don't know what they're doing. Same thing happened to a 90 year old woman in Fishtown a few years ago.

This didn't happen because of the earthquake. It happened because L&I doesn't do their job and crack down on unlicensed, unqualified contractors.
