Maybe you should call it "progress", and realize that creating a bridgehead has strategic advantages. But maybe it's your goal to make people think that this bridgehead is "nothing but" a hopeless position on the wrong side of a huge river. Propaganda? Demotivating Ukrainians when they succeed serves Russia's goals, calling Ukraine's succes a "pointless military action" sounds like pro Russian propaganda and nothing else. The invasion is pointless slaughter, russia will never succeed in occupying Ukraine and adding it to their empire: if anything is the "most pointless military action", it would be the invasion itself.

Back then we also were imperialistic, we did not care about human lives, we liked to wage wars and we did not even have an internet connection. But the world has become more democratic, free and accessible, with eight (8!) times more people in it, and the average human is richer and wealthier than all generations before us.
