As far as I understand Russian mindset and political philosophy, a Russian asset IS a useful fool. There is no difference, these assets are trained to respond to certain stimulate and should not have thought processes or morals that affect behavior. Russian style gaslighting is an advanced form of brainwashing, and Russians know how to do that.
