  1. Question: Is this a “super El Niño”, or is it just the new normal? If we continue to have these more mild winters after the heat we’ve been getting the last few years (esp last year 🥵) then wouldn’t that cause like a snowball effect and lead to consistently rising ocean temps, thus more/worse storms?

  2. But the American dream gets in the way when you literally can’t get flood insurance even if you can afford it - it’s just not an option. I don’t live in a flood zone, so no insurance company will give me flood insurance. Only problem is we’ve been getting more of these “hundred year storms” with so much rain the water table rises so freaking high that my basement floods. It shouldn’t even be possible but it does. Fully finished basement and living area completely ruined and had to be gutted. The scum insurance company issued a check for a thousand dollars bc it “wasn’t essential living space”… IN A RANCH HOUSE! If you’ve ever lived in a ranch and had a finished basement, you know that living space IS essential. They just told us to deal with removing HALF of our living space in the home. Disgusting million/billion dollar insurance companies rake in all this money from you, but then when you need legitimate help they just tell you to piss off. Sorry for my rant… I started this off intending to make a joke. Clearly it didn’t end up going that direction. 🙄
