  6. I’m so, so glad I grew up in the 90’s with fairly decent public education. Obv it was the same white washed version everyone else got, but the teachers had the freedom to talk about HARD things about history, and about life really. But my teachers didn’t get in trouble for teaching me that Columbus not only didn’t discover America before the Vikings, but that he was a horrible, horrible person who raped and murdered and enslaved millions upon millions of people. Idk if that could be taught today, which is sad. But I was at least exposed to enough to understand how to learn and how to think critically about things.

  7. The problem is the right thinks anything that doesn’t reinforce their incorrect opinions is “indoctrination”. Stop being so god damn scared that your kid is going to believe something different than you.

  8. If you want your kid to learn only the things you believe, then homeschool them. Stop trying to limit the education of the rest of the public just bc you’re afraid of kids being taught acceptance and factual history.
