  2. We know they showed empathy, as another commenter said - they cared for their sick and disabled. And we also know they interbred with humans to the point that a decent portion of humans have Neanderthal DNA; couldn’t it be possible, if not likely that Neanderthals would have picked up some human behaviors (if they didn’t already have them) such as burying the dead? Or, since we do know we interbred, maybe this was a human who had a family with this Neanderthal or loved him? It’s so incredibly interesting to continue learning more and more of our human cousins lives. I hope some day soon we can find something that sheds even more light on the day to day lives of our ancestors of Neanderthal and other hominids.
