@fitzstv8506 I know you are likely referring to the official language status and not history, but thought I'd share: Gaelic/celtic was introduced only between 1000bc and 500bc. There was likely two other waves of migration and languages spoken (Neolithic pre-indo-european, some other Indo-European language, and then common celtic [which later evolved into insular celtic and then split to form Goidelic and brythonic). It wasn't until old Irish evolved from such in the 4-6th century ad that the celtic mutations began occurring in words. Previously, it had been Endings similar to Latin or Greek.

Surprised "audiophile" hasn't devolved yet from lover of music to abuser of music in line with the word "pædop**le" (abuser of children instead of lover of children). Anytime I hear someone say they're an audiophile, I think stranger danger! Lock up your mp3s! 😂

Just watched American news and it talked about how in the last 5 years the word "female" has changed from sex and being able to bear offspring, to a social construct and identity. 😮

Did I miss you talking about the other brythonic language—Pictish? The one that scots Gaelic pushed out of Scotland when those irish settlers conquered Scotland in the medieval period?

Replacing "said" with "like": "He said 'hello there'" to "he was like 'hello there'"
