See, now that level of not-so-subtle digs is what I actually found to be hilarious about Shakespeare's insults. That and any of the passive lines of sarcasm, which were so smooth you could almost miss them ^^

atrudokht I wouldn't go that far. The various chinese religions show that their dieties are not completely immune to petty squabbles and hypocrisy themselves that sometimes end with just as harsh or worse consequences for mortals. But I agree that overall they definitely do have a more favorable portrayal than the Helenistic gods.

Athy was jealous and Spider-Girl was better. So what's the lesson, really? That gods shouldn't give away skills that make mortals better than them if they can't handle the fact?

I could never understand why some of these stories were told to illustrate beings, whom people choose to worship, in the worse light. But yeah, the hypocrisy of this story always gets me ;p
