"That seems so much more ambiguous" so what? it does not affect the numbers which is what he is asking about

"The results are therefore invalid." Nope. having a different number of people in each group does in no way invalidate the test. And in medicine it is almost always different numbers of people i each group. Only for teeny tiny tests are the numbers equal. "doesn't include those for which there was no change)" There was no people for which there was no change. it would be silly to include and extra row with just "0" in it.

"Actual smart people would ask how that data is gathered, how good was the sample, a breakdown by level of education and country of residence...instead of taking those numbers at face value," no they wouldn't. smart people realize that those factors are not relevant to answer the question asked by the interviewer. They are being asked, based on these numbers, does gun controll reduce crime. How the data is gathered does not in any way affect this.

no. A rash can either get better or worse over time. The cream just slightly shifts the percantage of people into the worse category.

@Czeckie "What does crime increased and decreased even mean? " That is irrelevant though. it can mean whatever you want it to. The meaning does not in any way change the answer to the question. same with the sizes of the cities etc.

I bet you can't find a single unaccounted factor which can't be written off.

@testtest-je8xb "Because both groups should have the same amount of people when only 1 trial is done with a control" There is no reason for this. in real research there is almost never the same number of participants in two different groups.

@testtest-je8xb "A rash can not be affected" but when zoomed in enough. it will always change in some way. rashes are not something static like a painted building. a rash is an active response from the body. It WILL change over time. nothing can change that.

"Was it clear to the interviewees that "no change" wasn't a possibility for the cream?" Yes. obviously. "But the survey results could be skewed by their actual wording." Not really, as the numbers are what is relevant, not the wording. "This ignores purely social/moral issues." so what? let it ignore it.

@kartoffelbrei8090 "that he doesnt explicitly say that the cream group is 298 people and the cream group is 128." the chart explicity say so. That should be enough.
1
@kartoffelbrei8090 The chart shows it. it is the number of people who get better added to the number of people who got worse.

" Looking at the proportion is the intuitive thing." only for high numeracy people...
