"Russia simply wanted them to not be in NATO ." ukraine could not join NATO anyways because Crimea was under occupation. "Russia, not wanting to be threatened by missiles that close (flight time from Ukraine makes missile defense systems ineffective)" Ukraine is not closer to russias major cities than the Baltics, already in NATO. And this war prompted Finland to join as well.. " Russia wanted Ukraine to stay out of NATO, keeping out NATO's missiles, thus maintaining peace and neutrality." Starting a war does not maintain peace or neutrality. Putin simply guaranteed that Ukraine will now join NATO.

Just perfom "inspections" on all ships going towards st.petersburg when they are close to danish waters. traffic can be slowed to a halt without any real problems.   9.  @thebrentwoodbicyclist3220  Ukraine. they have bombed Crimea, which according to russian law is 100% russian just like Moscow. so if bombing russia would respond in nukes, then it is odd that there was no nukes when bombing of sevastopol scared off the black sea fleet.
