  2.  @catjudo1 The wright brothers weren’t “properly educated” either. These guys built their flying machines at the turn of the 20th century. It sounds to me like you can’t conceive just how difficult and expensive (in both money and time) it would have been for Pearse to travel to the Carolinas, or the Wright Brothers to travel to New Zealand was. Back then they would have had to take long journeys on ocean liners. And this was before the Panama Canal was finished, so they either would have had to sail more than half the world away, or taken a long cross-continental steam train across the USA and sailed to/from California. These guys had aeroplanes to keep building.
