Given that potatoes had been introduced from the Americas: Clearly western Ireland hadn't been too wet for grain or oats for al of those centuries prior.

@Alexthemeh4214 And what’s your source that they all remained there for the 200 years after Cromwell died or that the at necessitated growing potatoes? After all: The Anglo landowners were able to use land for wheat and other agricultural output.

@Alexthemeh4214 Yes expert after learning in secondary school, no actual sources to back yourself up. Well here’s something they either neglected to teach you or you didn’t pay attention to: Ulster is only NORTHERN Ireland, and most of the British settlers in Ulster were Scottish Presbyterians, they began settling there before the Cromwellian conquest.
