  4. The Ultimate Reductionist Could you provide a link for the arbitrarily kidnapping of foreigners? Racism is definitely still an issue in Japan, so I do believe some police officers/citizens could be biased and annoyed by tourists, which leads to the arrest for no probable cause. I also don’t approve of their “hunts” for whales and dolphins, but it’s supposedly not banned. However, I’ve seen a documentary on fisherman who hunt sharks in Okinawa, and they’re justified since the types of sharks they’re hunting are an invasive species.

The Ultimate Reductionist I do think criminology, sociology, philosophy, among other similar majors, are worthless, since you could easily self-educate yourself using the internet...which I have done. The OP talks as if he’s been brainwashed by what his professors have taught him, and I think he has a lot more to learn if he truly believes tragic events in general often make people stronger; when that often isn’t the case. But maybe the OP can elaborate on what he means. Yes, when talking about anything, there are pros and cons to every situation. Sadly, reality doesn’t work the way the OP thinks, but thats why I clarified that there’s always a balance of the two.
