  5. man eater I didn’t say it leads to true happiness either, so I agree with you there. I also don’t believe in materialism, only essential things that I need, and I’d rather spend a ton in that object/item so it’s a good investment. But yea, I get you :)

  7. Texas Tony I agree. The whole ordeal could be very annoying and confusing at times, since the majority of people are not educated in history or terminology. Yea, I have mixed blood, so it’s not like I have pride in anything particular, and I love everything about the world, which is why I’m a historian. Arguing over nationality or race is somewhat ridiculous, lol. I don’t even feel “American” at times, but I understand how sometimes it could be a frustrating debate about what that actually implies. I’ve met many people who are patriotic about their race or ethnicity, yet they know nothing of the origin of their country (the culture and customs of that country, for example). And no problem, thanks for being cool :)

  15.  @llump.m.8021  Everyone here is very uneducated. Spanish is one of many languages that is spoken in Spain. People of Latin America are of mestizo decent.

  17. La Flame The government of US clarifies people from Latin America and parts of the Caribbean as Hispanic, which means they do come from a Spanish speaking country (except for Brazil). The most used dialect in Spain is Spanish (Castilian). So yes, it’s justifiable, but you could also say the origin of the country you reside in if you want to be technical, as I said.

  18. Llum P. M. I know. Yes, most of Latin America is of Spaniard descent, that’s why I said they’re mestizo. Calling them Spanish is not wrong in the US, it does make sense if we’re talking about history and language. But I would rather say Hispanic than Latino or whatever else propaganda they have out there for classification.

  19. German Sgt Major Riflemen You’re very confused. The Canary Islands have nothing to do with Latin America. Yes, the Spaniards colonized Latin American and the Caribbean. Spanish is white. They’re ancestors of the Germanic tribes in Europe. That has nothing to do with Egyptians being African.

  20. Llum P. M. Yes, that’s what I said. I said “most”...you’re not reading what I’ve been saying. It’s not incorrect at all. The Spaniards called Latin America New Spain before it changed to “Latin America” by the French. You could easily do research and find all the answers you want on google, no need to be condescending. I’ve done all the research, that’s why I’m talking facts.

  21. Llum P. M. I just want to clarify that calling Hispanic people “Spanish” is not wrong or bad. I grew up with Spanish people all my life, they don’t mind it either. It’s not based on nationality, it’s just based on the language they speak. Sometimes I casually call them Spanish, but most of the time it’s Hispanic. I really don’t think it matters, lol, that’s why I posted my comment to begin with.

  22. Texas Tony I understand where you’re coming from. It’s just something I’d say without thinking much about it, since I grew up with immigrants. Most of the time I say Hispanic. Latino is also a propaganda term, because of the history of Napoleon the Third trying to reclaim his empire (starting with Mexico), which is where Latin America comes from. Because of Spanish and French originating from Latin. I’d say the most accurate classification is stating the origin of your country, which is Mexico, so you’re Mexican-American. Your punctuation and grammar is fine. My father is from Puerto Rico, so I do have some Asian in my blood :)

  26. Where's my mind? Not true at all. You’re very uneducated to state such a bold claim. Slavery was common with any ethnicity in Europe, especially with warfare. The Vikings enslaved the Irish and anyone else they pleased. The Barbary pirates had European slaves before Columbus arrived in Cuba in 1492. Please educate yourself about the history of slavery, especially since it’s still going on.
