I was with you until you quoted your psych professor. He sounds like a total pessimist who can’t sympathize with those who lack ambition. There’s nothing wrong with that, and if he can’t understand, he simply doesn’t understand life.

k m Ambition and passion usually go together. If you’re ambitious in general, you usually have to be passionate about your ideal goal.

@lkm1743 I have a degree in Art too, lol, and I never liked the process in most of the mediums. I see myself as a creative director, lol. But I think its cool you have a hobby in drawing, maybe you could even make it a career if you become passionate about it. Art is all about time and dedication, is what I've learned from doing it for a while now.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I've graduated college and disliked it. I've self-educated myself and it has only made me realize how extremely limited the school system is.

k m A career change is usually driven by passion, no? That’s also a sign of ambition to better yourself in the direction you want to strive for. It’s funny how you brought up drawing for a few minutes if you’re passionate about art...because that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for a year now. I hate the process of drawing, yet it’s the necessary step towards my ambition. So maybe for now I’m more ambitious than passionate.

Hey! Anything is possible to develop when a baby is born, however, it still makes me skeptical about the whole situation. Maybe it depends on the environment you grew up in? Or is it possible for a traumatic experience that made you feel “depressed”? You said the doctor who diagnosed you was from your native country, and I’m assuming it was in Latin America? Was the doctors opinion credible? He could’ve been a quack, lol. Also, I hope you don’t get all your information mainly from YouTube, as I feel most of things on this platform is filled with propaganda. I also use the internet for educating myself on many topics/subjects, but I use adequate sources for researching.

Speaking Truth I see! The only thing I can think of, that would be plausible, is that she had a very traumatic experience that took her many years to recover. I still don’t know, though, because I would need the details. Plus, as you said, it could be other diagnoses. I had traumatic experiences when I was around 4 and up. My father was an alcoholic and sold drugs, and I remember being confused for the duration of times that I seen him being that way. But I never showed those symptoms...but again, everyone is different.

dxtou's camera roll Well, Mexico is a poor country, lol. I would assume Mexico City has good doctors. So you were diagnosed with depression because of your mom being sick? I didn’t say it didn’t happen, I was just curious on the details of how it’s possible for a child that young to have depression, because that would mean you wouldn’t be a normal child. You wouldn’t have the energy to do anything because of your illness. Well, I too, have depression. I’ve had since I was around 13, and now I’m 25. I’ve also never taken meds for my anxiety or depression...I even get panic attacks sometimes. Yea, same with my situation, but my mom doesn’t understand that emotion apparently. She’s also mentally ill, which is not surprising because my family members have a history of mental illnesses.

Speaking Truth It would make sense for what you’ve said to be true. I would also imagine depression doesn’t seem appropriate for a child that age. I really don’t know what’s going on these days, you have pseudoscience dominating common sense...it’s pretty scary. There’s also tons of kids who proudly state they take antidepressants, which doesn’t make sense to me either. Antidepressants are not something you should brag or be proud of, because it actually causes more suicide than success stories.

Oh, what degree are you going for? Too bad my degree is useless, lol. I get you. School failed me entirely, including college, so I’m glad it’s working for you...I hope you’ll get more use out of it. Yea, make a video, it’s up to you, only if you feel comfortable talking about that part of your life. No problem. I can only support you in your endeavors and hope you won’t feel ashamed of your past because you’ve obviously become a stronger individual.

That’s cool you did all those activities as a child! It does sound similar to mine, at least until I reached the age where I started to get bullied all the time in school. Aw, and your mom getting you a dog sounded cute, lol. No, I understand, and believe me, I’ve tried to explain my depression to many people...it just never seems to work. So now I don’t talk to anyone about it, unless I can talk to an individual I can relate to. I’m sorry about you being bullied, I also went through the same ordeal until almost the end of high school. I tried to starve myself when I was a sophomore in high school because I was bullied so much. Even in college I was judged because I dressed differently, lol, but that’s not a bad thing XD I’m sorry XD I didn’t explain properly. I did graduate with a bachelors in Art, which isn’t bad...it’s whatever. So now it’s been a year and I’m still jobless, lol, it’s a long story. Anyway, I love anthropology! Sine I’ve graduated college, I’ve done nothing but do research in history, so I’ve learned more than I could ever imagine from using the internet. Since you’re from Mexico, I just wanted to say how much I love the culture and history of Mexico...the Aztecs were pretty cool :) And dance is also rad! Getting a minor is always a plus!

Schooling and YouTube is not your answer. Google is. I've graduated college and learned more on the internet than anywhere else.

@nicoleherondale7690 But I am an expert? I'm an expert in history, art history (more of a historian than scholar), animation and philosophy. And I've learned everything from Google, from reading legit sources such as books, articles, and research papers, etc (all in PDF format).

coco rouge Well, yes, there’s always going to be an individual who is more insightful on a specific topic, or may enlighten you on a small detail that you weren’t aware as before. That’s why conversations are just as important. But, as I said, the internet will teach you more than you’d learn at any school. Propaganda and linear teaching is what makes up a school system, nonetheless. That’s why it’s essential for you to do your own research on your own time.
