  3. You’re wrong. There’s been many sub-cultures that have been harassed and even killed, in small communities or small, “conservative” towns. Since the 1970s, after the mainstream “hippie phase”, punks, goths, and metal heads established their own “self-expression”. There has been rivalries with different “cliques”, too, if you look up the death of Brian Deneke (1997- a punk vs jock rivalry), you’ll understand that it’s been going on for a while. Small towns in the UK, where the goth scene is huge, Sophie Lancaster (2007 case) and her boyfriend were beaten to death by a hateful, prejudice group. Even when a new scene shows up, like, for example “emo”, individuals were being beaten by metalheads in Mexico. Other sub-cultures could be full of hate of other, similar communities; there’s definitely a sense of “elitism” among certain communities, also. So, just because being “trans” has become “mainstream” for the last few years, it doesn’t mean shit, it’s now “new”, but you shouldn’t ignore other “communities” who deal with hate for being who they are. I identify as an “emo”, and people stereotype and look down upon me because they think I “self-harm” or make fun of my musical tastes, however, they’re misinformed and immature. You shouldn’t blame Trump for this, blame the masses who are ignorant and scared, who can’t accept individual freedom of self-expression. You have the power to educate individuals, and if they don’t listen, move on. I have some issues with trans myself, when it comes to facts about biology, but, I don’t condemn anyone who wants to fully express themselves, that’s one of the most intimate, beautiful things about being a human.
