You sound too fake and generic, dude, you sound too innocent, which is a major flaw in your “speech”. There is no such thing as “hope” when it comes to the exploration of space. Right now, we should be focusing our ability to be progressive, and that’s not even happening in the present.

  10. Valik Yes, you could also do that, but quotations are also used for highlighting a specific word. I don’t use the “asterisk” unless I’m writing down a list of something (I rarely use it at all, in fact). If someone does indeed insult my intelligence, I’ll simply correct them; thanks for helping, tho :p

  11. Valik Yes, you definitely can use quotations in formal writing. Either in satirical use or highlighting a keyword, it’s still correct. I’ve been in college for 5 years (graduating in December), and in any persuasive essay, I’ve never been questioned or criticized for how I use “quotations”. The way you form an expression is dictated by how your sentence reflects your opinion. I think you’re just confused, because it depends on the writing format...but either way, you can go both ways.
