  14.  @heraklesnothercules.  Agreed, but if you can't tell the (not so subtle) difference, if you always use "cannot" you'll be right pretty much all the time. Your example isn't actually that good, since the speaker actually means "cannot", despite the stress on the second syllable. "Can not" implies a choice, which you can, or can not, choose to take. "Cannot" means no choice - something is impossible.
