In the UK i'm paying a lot of that $10 already to keep my lovely Jaaaag on the road!

@TheMadmax0609 Ah, resorting to insults. Says it all, really.
2
@ros4833 Yes, it emits the carbon that was previously already in the atmosphere, so it's carbon neutral. Do keep up.

@isaaclong-dq5hy You're llving in the past.

When cars were invented there were scaremongers saying "they'll never catch on - where will we find all the chauffeurs?"
1
@trance9158 Not nowadays, Germany is living on past goodwill.
1
You think steam trains were ahead of their time? 🙂
1
Blame the morons who want to drive around in those tanks, then. Porsche is only supplying what the market seems to want.
1
I'm not sure the camps during WW 2 were a GOOD SOLUTION.

The irony with EVs is that they're supposedly ideal for use in cities where the lack of tailpipe emissions is a bonus, but mosr people living in cities don't have access to offroad charging, so will have to rely on "going to the pumps" like ICEV drivers do. And it only takes 5 minutes to recharge an ICEV.
1
@TheMadmax0609 But he has identified a major snag, so brighter than you if you're dismissing it.
1
@TheMadmax0609 When I drive, I prefer to drive where I want to go, not to the places that companies have chosen to put chargers (not top mention the stress of wondering if they'll actually be working and unoccupied) - and I can can fully recharge my ICEV in 5 minutes so can continue to enjoy the drive much sooner. But maybe you don't enjoy driving, so a computer on wheels is just your thing - it takes all sorts.
1
@TheMadmax0609 Ah, but you're fortunate enough to have off road parking and a home charger. That puts you in a minority of the population, and I'd rather spend 5 minutes a week filling up than an hour every few days at a public charger. So I won't waste my time with an EV. SImple maths, as you say.
1
@TheMadmax0609 If you read it properly, you'll observe that I said you weren't as bright as someone else which isn't saying you're not very bright. Do be accurate in your self-justifications. You, on the other hand, have said I'm dumb, and that anyone in your circumstances is a fool if they don't drive the same type of car as you. Such arrogance. Oh, and why do you need 1000hp? Racing to the shops?

Hence JCB's hydrogen policy.

Not everyone has the option of solar panels on their roof - apartment dwellers don;t really have a roof, unless the count the floor of the folks above them. And not everyone lives in a sunny place, or has access to offoad parking/charging.
1
@NoHandleToSpeakOf You have to pay whatever you're told for any form of energy. Can you choose what you pay for solar panels?
1
@NoHandleToSpeakOf Until they need replacing. What's the lifespan of solar panels working efficiently? Do they pay for themselves during that time? And of course that relies on you having sufficient places to actually fit them.

Not so great job Germany to shut down all your nuclear power plants and then import electricity from, er, France's nuclear power plants.
1
That's a bit harsh on dishwashers! 🙂
1
Germans do embrace nuclear power. Having shut down all their reactors, they're now importing electricity from France's nuclear power stations. Who says Germans have no sense of humour - they do irony very well.
1
And lithium, AIUI, is a finite resource, so the price is likely to rise as more and more EVs get built.
1
You're making the arrogant assumption that you're a typical consumer.
1
You say that like it's a bad thing! 🙂

Dinosaurs roamed the Earth for a lot longer than the human race is likely to.

Speed of refueling - ICEV wins hands down. Only children are interested in traffic light GPs.
