  369. I think a bigger part of what’s going on here is the shift of burden from hospitalizations for cardiac events to long term care for chronic illness. Medicare covers the former. Medicaid covers the latter, but only after they drain all your assets and generational wealth, and only if your kids can’t or won’t pay out of pocket to put you somewhere nice, where you’re cared for properly. These were supposed to be universal programs, and neoliberalism has turned them into welfare safety nets. Then you have the same people who argue against Medicare for all, patting themselves on the back that they cut Medicare implicitly with these policies. It’s grotesque. These stats are showing the failures of the ACA, not its success.
