  6. So much misinformation in this segment. Damn. CA and NY State Guards are paid on deployment, as an extension of the national guard. They are not volunteers. They could be called on to respond to riots. The main difference between NY/CA State and National Guard is that they can’t be deployed to Iraq by the president. State guards are absolutely intended to be a state militia. Vermont has an all volunteer state guard. Since it’s 100% state level, there is a lot of variation in how they’re implemented. Florida’s is anomalous because unlike the other 22 state guards, it places the State Guard directly under the governor, instead of under a state-level military chain of command. It’s bad not because it’s militarized, but because it’s a fascist paramilitary accountable only to Ron deSanctis. Oh and they wear brown t-shirts in all their videos too. They’re not being subtle.
