The most efficient way to break into the field is to get a CS degree from an accredited university. There are no shortcuts in life. There's thousands of grifters out there, ready to scam you with some boot camp or online course. All based on the modern-day Horatio Alger myth of the "self taught programmer." Yeah, they exist, but they're the exception to the rule. Also, the rare exceptions that do get hired -- follow back up with them in 2 years. 90% chance they get PIPed out, and that was during the boom times of 2020. Now? Forget about it... never gonna happen. Recent CS grads are having a hard enough time out there. Why would a company hire a junior dev and pay them an inflated US salary, instead of hiring a senior dev in France for half the cost, anyway?
This video's speaking the truth. People spend five years, studying 60-70 hours a week, to get an entry level job. Half the country takes it as a religious doctrine, that higher education is a scam. Who wants to believe they have to work twice as hard for 10x longer to get a $100k job, anyway? The boot camp scammers are telling you what you want to hear. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
You are such an easy mark! I'm so tired of listening to these libertarian chuckle****s I work with, who have at least a BS in CS, lying to newcomers and saying uni is a waste of time. Don't plan your life based on someone else's ideological BS. Ignore their words, which are just repeated verbal diarrhea from their favorite political pundit. Look at their actions. How did they get where they are today? For the self taught exceptions, how many of them are well into their 30s and only pulled that off because they started their career before the 2008 economic collapse? Anyone with two braincells to rub together could get a job in IT in the 90s and 00s.
