It’s concerning how many of these problems are shared by the USA.

Grade separation is undesirable in Florida. We need more opportunities for Florida Man to earn a Darwin Award.

Vegas is such a s***hole. You literally have to pay me to go there on a trip.

So you’re saying that Vermin Love Supreme’s pony pledge is real? Incredible

The most dangerous subway is still safer than the safest car. The FRA’s nanny state obsession with safety is a pox on this country

I’m somewhat surprised that this level of detail on Anduril’s capabilities isn’t controlled or classified information.

I’ve always heard Florida was the America of America. As in, the way we look at Florida is how the world looks at America. I like the idea of California as the America of America instead, it’s a lot more positive.

The EU has fully nationalized railroads. “Open access” operators only run the trains themselves. Private railroads always fail.
2
So the rails are still state-owned and nationalized. Privatizing the operators of passenger rail seems relatively harmless as long as there’s a public option. But private railroads, meaning the rails on the ground, have been an unmitigated disaster everywhere they’ve been tried.

I actually find that Utah approach to religious education much less problematic than the East Coast version, where middle class families put their kids in religious private schools, defunding public education and preserving the legacy of segregation. I do think in the interest of fairness, those onsite Bible schools should be required to host rabbis, priests, and other cult leaders.

Nobody earns a billion dollars. All billionaires are thieves and should never be celebrated under any circumstances

I’m very much an ends justifies the means kinda guy, but these PABs are just a thin ideological veneer hiding a fundamentally government-run enterprise. It’s more like a Canadian crown corporation than anything else. Modern private railroads have been an unmitigated disaster everywhere they’ve been tried. Any successful railroad has to be nationalized eventually. If you need these PAB 3 card Monty schemes to get libertarian morons on board, so be it, but it seems awfully wasteful and silly to me. Instead of having an army corps of engineers style national organization, that could replicate brightline nationwide, we’re gonna Balkanize it across many companies, owned by different regional lords, who all steal from the government coffers as profit? It seems to be equal parts ideology and graft to me. But hey, this is what we get for Sherman not finishing the job. The south has always been an unreformed aristocratic society.

You’d think so, but the NIMBYs are so vicious here, the leading proposal is to tunnel under Long Island Sound because eminent domain in Connecticut is such an intractable problem.

Chaos is a ladder Shansa-msung

Ban AirBnB and 90% of these problems go away. AirBnB is a pox

These social media addicted tourons would never, ever sleep in their cars, or a crappy motel in flyover country. There wouldn’t be staff shortages if rentals weren’t getting converted to hotels. There wouldn’t be ultra viral locations if a billion dollar tech company wasn’t marketing them so heavily.

This video convinced me to resubscribe to Nebula. Well done. You're much better off without CuriosityStream IMO. The bundle was brilliant for user acquisition, but CS was hurting first impressions of Nebula and the perceived value of your product. They're fools if they thought they were getting the short end of that stick.

Then there’s VT, where ski season, mountain biking, and leaf peeping leave locals all of 2 weeks of black flies and 2 weeks of stick season without the tourists. Western jerries just don’t have the skills for spring snow so they close the mountain in April when there’s still a 10 foot base of snow

The hands-off approach to industrial policy on the federal level is almost certainly for the best. Foreign capitalists would only be spooked off by scary socialist AMLO doing anything, even if it was beneficial to all.

Imagine if we had peace for just six months and applied that ingenious logistics to creating BEARs kit houses from coast to coast. we'd outdo Khruschev and Sears combined in a tenth of the time. But no, this is America, we can't have nice things. houses are only for the rich. best we can do for taxpayers is a fema trailer full of formaldehyde if you're lucky.

Mbta needs to just stop paying its debts and tell the banksters to pound sand.

“Trade wars are easy to win” am I right?

These bean counters will never stop leaving core legacy systems to rot until they’re held liable for their negligence. The problem space for SkySolver is NP-complete. They built it before 9/11, when southwest was a small fraction of its current size. This failure was predictable and kinda amazing it didn’t happen sooner. Kudos to the original programmers. Bring back the pillories for the bean counters.

How can you possibly view that as an insult? Peak carbrain. Europe is better than America, full stop. In pretty much every way, not just transportation. The only way you can make it an accurate insult is by saying, Boston racism is more European than American. They won’t call you the gamer word, but they’re woke segregationists. Insufferable lol. Also I guess the inability to ever buy a home applies too.

we need to nationalize the railroads. privatization has been an unmitigated disaster everywhere it's been tried. private train operators are fine (the EU is having a lot of success here currently) but the problem is not freight rail, it's private rail. The NEC is great not because of the absence of freight, but because of the absence of capitalist parasites.
1
Man, that woke stuff at the end is just total nonsense… Boston residents look poorer on paper because so many are students. If you’re an adult who lives near the subway, you’re probably rich, work in tech or finance. Framingham, Lynn, Worcester — these are working class towns, man. It’s hilarious, the idea that Lynn is more privileged than Cambridge or South Boston. Boston is the poster child for the suburbanization of poverty and gentrification.
