Few serious people believe a 100% renewable national-scale power grid is possible. You need to balance generation and consumption perfectly. Renewable power is variable and while we can have a mostly renewable power grid and engineer solutions for a lot of these problems, you need some base load power generation in the form of fossil fuels or nuclear power. Idk about you but I’d vastly prefer nuclear.

geothermal for a single family home is financial insanity and so bloody wasteful, unless you can monetize it on a 1.2M subscriber channel and write it all off. we need to be building 100+ unit commieblocks with geothermal district heating and cooling. economies of scale are wild for these systems.

I gotta say, you did a way better job than Veritasium on this topic.

If we’re gonna worry so much about some individuals getting inequitable returns from a collective grid, we really gotta nationalize the utilities first. As long as capitalists steal 8% off your bill as guaranteed profits, this cost sharing argument is just total nonsense.

They should bring these non-traditional turbine designs to ski areas. they're some of the most power hungry businesses around (due to snowmaking), and the summits often get slammed with the dirtiest winds around (ie. hurricane-force)

Just ordered a GE Profile for $1600 at Lowes. You gotta either be a Youtuber or a giant sucker to be an "early adopter" of an appliance. Took one year for them to cut the price in half and roughly match the cost of a separate GE washer and GE dryer. Too bad my old washer didn't last longer -- I bet they get them under $1000 by next year. These should not cost the same as two supersized Burgerland appliances. When you strip away all the fancy engineering and design, and get to the cold reality of manufacturing, all you're doing is sticking a glorified mini fridge coil inside of your washer. Think of how much metal and other materials are being saved here. The real question is, why did it take so long for anyone to make this product? refrigerators and heat pumps were invented decades before the first tumble clothes dryer.

Relative to much of Europe, the US actually is known for quality insulation. Britbongs seem to think brick alone is sufficient insulation

Solar panels aren’t a scam, but Musk products definitely are

This has only begun, and Zoomers are already live streaming their layoffs to traumatize and shame the HR ghouls and goblins. If it accelerates like you predict, we re-enter The Cool Zone where we left off in November 2020. The CHAZ takes over a state house.
