The maverick is a perfectly acceptable size. But the 1995 Ranger was body on frame, could tow more, and cost $10k MSRP. The Maverick costs twice as much even after adjusting for inflation, and it’s a crossover with a bed, not a pickup truck. We need BYD to liberate us from the decadence of Detroit with their cheap $10k EVs. The same way Japan did back in the day. Lack of competition has made US automakers so disgustingly greedy.

renewables actually pair very well with EVs that are setup to charge during periods of low demand on the power grid. solves that whole battery storage problem quite nicely... why waste billions on an enormous utility-scale battery when you can put them in cars instead? ford gets this. you can even use the f150 lightning as a whole house generator

It’s absolutely the right size, but unibody frame and stealership markups are a dealbreaker for most truck buyers.

@marlonelmorefreedomisoursn9744 China is absolutely all-in on EVs. Russia is still using mosin-nagants in their "special military operation." not exactly a model country to base policy off of. Russia is back to their historical norm of being 100 years behind the rest of the world. The aberration that was the USSR, where they were a world power, is long dead.

lot easier to shift demand for charging to an off-peak period than cooling. also what annual rolling blackout? fake news made a big deal out of this summer's worst ever heatwave but they avoided blackouts with one simple trick: a text message. lol. big brain texas collapsed with a little bit of snow.

It’s honestly indefensible to fly these planes in a climate crisis in the first place. Just ban general aviation altogether until they can run off batteries

887 kwh sounds about right to me. the sun belt is driving that statistic way up with their constant AC use and big detached homes. homes in the north generally use gas, oil, wood, etc for heat, not electric. they're smaller and better insulated too.

Bring back the Subaru Baja and the 1990s ford rangers!

On the mulch: have you see the cargo space of the outback? Pretty sure I could fit six bags back there. Shit’s ridiculous.

I never would’ve thought this towing range discrepancy was an aerodynamics problem. That’s kinda incredible. Thought for sure it was a drivetrain issue

It’s perfect if you enjoy to Fix Or Repair Daily

Honestly? The legislation should be simply banning these planes altogether. It’s inexcusable to fly just for the hell of it in a climate crisis

There’s no free lunch. “No season” tires offer pretty dismal performance in ice and snow on mountain roads. But studless winter tires lose 10% fuel efficiency, more road noise, and poorer performance during those 60F midwinter rainstorms. Every winter tire moves those levers a bit differently. Moving one up usually pushes another down. Compared to a road tire that is acceptable off road, a snow tire almost seems easy! I suppose it helps that off-roading tends to be unpopular during a real winter though.

@ChadRazorback the Baja was just an outback with half of the top cut off. Current gen outbacks get 34 mpg highway. How much worse does a bed really make aerodynamics compared to the standard roof rack bars?
