  8. We need a million more public housing units in NYC alone. In 1948, the UN declared housing as a universal human right. Back then, woke countries like Lebanon drafted it, and today, woke countries like Afghanistan signed onto it. NYC’s “liberal values” have regressed to something akin to the 19th century British policy regarding the Irish famine. A complete anachronism. We’re living in a failed state.

  10. Rents have been going to the moon since Clinton the DINO passed the Faircloth Amendment, making it illegal to add any additional public housing units since 1990s. Markets can never solve this problem. Housing is a human right, not a commodity. Rents have skyrocketed nationally. A NYC local tax break expiring, is missing the forest for the trees. Also, can we stop pretending 2019 wasn’t also a late capitalist dystopia with the highest wealth inequality in recorded history up until then? The trend goes back well before the corona scare. Goes back to that devil incarnate Reagan, if you ask me. The middle class died when he busted the ATC union.
