They said it to make him feel uncomfortable, because they know most rideshare drivers are poor and can’t afford to stand up for themselves and others. They think of “service workers” as servants. In 2022, people are done with all that. It’s called the great resignation. You can either treat us workers with respect or you can fuck off. Keep people in precarity for 15 years, keep minimum wage less than the cost of a gallon of gasoline, and eventually they realize if they’re gonna be in poverty either way, they might as well take their dignity back.
