I fix car and motorcycles, even engines, since 45 years.
You can smell it at the oil, if you need an oil change.
I do it the german way, or less - never got problems.
Even no problems with cheap engine oil.
I do a full car service every two years. Just before the safety check.
I have a car service light in my car. I delete it.
But I think, it is made by my car manufacturers, to make more money.
And to be shure, that the car works any time. For people, who don´t know about cars.
I didn´t have seen oil change lights in our cars in germany.
I think, it´s made for the oil industry, to make more money.
All spare parts I buy it by internet, or at independent dealers.
It is a lot cheaper, as at the car shop of the (german) brand.
An oil change at a BMW car, was very expensive at a BMW brand car shop. (Contract dealer) for $ 200.
At an independed car shop - half price only - same job - includes the same synthetic oil.
If you drive a german car, you get lock-in by very expensive spare parts. (And bad made cars)
Japanese cars are the best, ie Toyota, Honda and Subaru.
I drive a german car (Opel Astra G, station car) because I got it for free. And it´s very reliable.
But it is my last german car, to buy for.
I have an old Opel Kadett station car, made 1989.
It is soo easy and cheap, to fix it. I can fix all, at this simple car.
It has an automatic transmission made by GM. But it was made for bigger cars, so it works allways and forever.
