I actually love this type of 'different but the same' comparisons (because they are both performance cars), I would love to see something like the Focus RS vs a E92 M3 or even maybe S8 vs R8 V10 (non plus) to see how close they are?
160
Only a few cars being built today that I still get excited when I see in the flesh and the Alpine is one of them
115
its gorgeous.
95
Fair play to the SVR, surprised it even came that close
41
6:04 Over 900kg? Surely not...
30
Its more expensive so they could use lighter more expensive materials
29
Kind of irrelevent, you would just buy the Golf
24
It really is an absolute bargain at just under £40,000 if you think about it
22
Nah I wouldn't say your points are very fair. The Porsche has 4WD so it will be more stable hitting the kerbs, it also has softer suspension meaning it is less likely to be thrown about off the kerbs. Flying lap is how races are done, the M2 isn't a drag car so why start the race like one? Short track is a odd complaint as well.
21
Who doesn't do a best of 3...a one off drag race is so unprofessional, A hesitation off the line so surely that means a retry?
19
Very true, it will definitely go down in history as a car that woke up the supercar industry (much like the original NSX)
19
To be fair there definitely is a decent gap in the market for this sort of thing
19
B45 AMG 😏😏👀
16
***** I think he meant the M2 should be much more lighter because its smaller.
15
Wasn't really if you look at their exit speeds at the 1000m mark, R8 is doing 162.3mph and the R8+ is doing 168.1mph edit: Oh upload9595 just said the same thing
15
I knew that RS6 was fast but quicker than a 458 spider well that's crazy, think I have a new dream car
14
Can't wait for the DBS, I think the body needs a bit more anger in it for my tastes and also if the DB11 has 600hp the DBS will probably be pushing 650-675hp
14
The i3 would be an excellent company car but for long road trips you will need a weekend car
13
For a start you it now costs around £31k without an auto which the RS3 has. If you get an auto its £33k. Secondly you lose over 60hp and a hell of a lot of torque. Thirdly to get a M135i up to the spec of the RS3 you will need to spend a good 5-6k so now you have a £39k car without AWD and without a modern chassis and slower!
13
This was a great video, AutoExpress have either stepped up their game or the GT8 is just unbelievable
11
I wouldn't lose any sleep, since the Clubsport S is limited to 400 units and is far less practical.
10
+Nik Brudar They are a magazine company primarily and they won't be making much money from YouTube in comparison so it makes sense
9
Think of this as a Baby Supercar
8
Still a very interesting comparison
8
Shows how little this guy knows about cars since he wants the paddles to move with the wheel
7
Except with the 718 Cayman and Boxster (sorry not sorry)
7
Auto Express have been nailing their videos recently, also finding their magazines to have got better recently as well. Keep it coming guys
7
Hate to say it but that Corsa looks miles ahead of the Fiesta
7
AM say it's not because I think the deal was to work together on the V8s but people don't fully believe Merc haven't helped or had a input on this new V12
6
You hav £50k to play with, you want a fast luxury German car but you are not sure if you are willing to get a M2 when it's so impractical. Porsche make good sports cars so you think hmm I need a practical sporty car but is it as good as the M2? This video answers that...no, but god it is near enough that it almost doesn't matter. It's not always just for the online people, but actually for people buying these things!
6
Haha Peter found you speaking to the camera hilarous
6
VAG have really stepped up their interiors recently
6
I'd even watch a review of a shopping trolley if Steve was doing it
6
David Sanderson Why do most full on performance car's and racing cars choose to have them disconnected to the wheel then? You will have to let go of the wheel and work out where the paddle is if they move with the wheel even more than if they were independent.
5
Got to say I do love the PORSCHE badge on the rear, looks great.
5
your knees? haha
5
dominicancash You can also do the same with a civic and get 370hp and 500+nm which to do in a Golf would take a tune and a bunch of supporting mods
5
people with these cars mostly never have people in the back, so its a good compromise for cheapness, lightness and still able to open it
5
Salatiso Mdeni Nah because the main appeal of that car is the launch off the line ngl
4
3.7 to 60?!
4
I'm sorry guys but I would choose the A45 any day
4
Rory Woollacott He didnt slow down...look at the window as he lets go of the throttle...you can see the bar which is on the finish line
4
A lap time comparison would also be really interesting between these two
4
Guess its to stop putting off some more sensible (boring) potential customers and they know some people who want it loud will go get it made very loud
4
I mean vRS has never been the last word in performance
4
If this was avaliable to 16 year olds like a motorcycle this would be a massive seller (of course) but to be honest its a thought?
4
Speed is pretty meaningful to be honest, still I'd take the R34
3
For me the new AMG-GT is the one to get
3
A good video idea ruined...slow gear changes and a stupid non-objective 'twist.'
3
Next time do a Hyundai i10 vs 918, short track so yeah they should be within a second of each other
