I've often wondered about the evolutionary history of the cat family. This video is a marvelous summary. It also seems like monkeys and apes evolved from this early tree dwelling cat ancestor. Hence cats dogs and humans also have similar teeth.

A very thorough and beautiful summary of cat evolution and differentiation. I love watching this video over and over again. Thank you!

Dogs evolved in North America while cats evolved in east Asia. Amazing that they are so similar yet so different.

Best summary of mammalian evolution and fossils that I have ever seen or read, thanks!

Nice video thanks !! Cats & humans are the 2 most successful mammal species on this Earth. And we love each other !!

@@free_balloons most successful here having the meaning of surviving on their own: 1: feral & tame housecats, 2: coyotes, 3: black bears, 4: whitetail deer, 5: owls, 6: rats (you are correct about this species), 7: carp, 8: red ants, Etc.

@@free_balloons humans could easily exterminate our entire species with one push of a button, the unintended consequence of Oppenheimer & Teller. If that happens we fall off the list.

Kitties are thriving !! Like coyotes & black bears & whitetail deer & rats & mice & pigeons !!

@Ceerads do you have any basis for your doubts?
1
@Ceerads what you just stated does not support you original statement. So you have no support. So you're just blindly guessing without support.

@Ceerads read more about the evolutionary ancestry of humans, apes, monkeys, cats, and mammals.
1
@Ceerads the science literature reflects that the first mammals were tiny carnivores like shrews. They had to be tiny to hide from the dinosaurs. They had to be furry and warm blooded to roam the nights since the dinosaurs couldn't. The ate insects and birds eggs. This is all scientific narrative. Mostly conjecture. The most ancient cat fossil looks like a hybrid cat-monkey and it was tree dwelling. The morphology explains where bears, tigers, lions, wolves, wild dogs, hyenas, monkeys, apes, and humans came from. We all have very similar skeletons and teeth. But you can doubt it all you like.
1
@Ceerads it does not seem like you know our evolutionary ancestors however. Especially after your trite and unsupported fallacious statements.
1
@Rudol_Zeppili we human mammals do not have the teeth of rodents. We have the teeth of cats, dogs, and bears.
1
@Rudol_Zeppili our bicuspids serve that purpose indeed. Every time you eat ribs you use those.
