  1. Oh yah -- almost forgot -- what would i do? For camping i bring a shotgun with slug ammo. For hiling & backpacking & mtn biking i nring my 45ACP with heavy FMJ loads. I would stand my ground. If the bear approaches i would shoot in the dirt in front of him. If that doesnt work then empty the gun into his nose & reload. Usually the noise will scare them away.
