@BendySnowball Dude you are so wrong. Hawaii was illegally annexed by the US. Bill Clinton actually apologized for it. And Taiwan was ruled by China at lease through the Ming dynasty. The last emperor of Ming escaped to Taiwan just like KMT.

@Jprager In 1993, Clinton and the congress apologized for the illegal seizure of Hawaii. See the apology resolution.The US has actual treaty with Native American. The Indian reservations are sovereign. That's why they get to build the casinos on it. Check the Taiwan (ROC) constitution. The constitution said it was part of China. In 1992, Taiwan/ROC and PRC has a talk on reunification. And the agreement they reached known as the 1992 consensus agreed that Taiwan is part of China. In 2018, Taiwan has the referendum to renamed their Olympic team as Taiwan instead of Chinese Taipei and that failed by a land slide. Even the Taiwanese doesn't want independence.

@Jprager No, check the poll. Majority of HKers and Taiwanese do not want to be independent. Not even Joshua Wong wanted independence. And Taiwanese had a referendum in 2018, they don't even want to change their team name to Taiwan, they preferred Chinese Taipei. Find me any elected official that advocate independence. BTW, advocating independence is illegal in Taiwan per the constitution. Majority Native Hawaiians want their land back. They still have their deeds. Ask the the Hawaiian Legal government, if they are going to give up their land.
