THey're different. Google and FB devided not to comply with Chinese censorship law but Tiktok has followed US law. Also the ban includes financial relationship where there is no such restriction in China. However, it is not clear how that will work. Tiktok is HQ in LA. Does that mean the landlord will have to terminate the lease. Their CEO is American. Does he has to quit his job? Their investors are from Silcon Valley. Do they have to give up their equity?

@Kerrin77JIH You do not need social media to steal identity. You can buy them on line. Credit report, police records they are for sale. US is the onlt country where US data is a product.

@sdhoang Yes I have the rumor WeChat has a backdoor. But only Chinese use it, so who care. Tik Tok however do not allow politic or political ad on their platform. They do not operate in China. Their HQ is in LA. Their CEO is American and their investors ARE also American. Only the founder is Chinese. So where is the risk? Even the user data is not very valuable, just a bunch of teenagers dancing. You should follow the money instead. Why the ban is happening when FB is releasing Instagram reel. Why Peter Navaro , a Trump advisor is calling Microsoft, a potential buyer, NOT an American company. Microsoft is NOT an American company? Call me cynical. It is not about National Security, it is about somebogy's wallet. BTW, Tik tok has a valuation of $50B. That is a lot of money.
