@queenmonkeyhead Carrie Lam was elected. She received more than 60% of the votes. The legislature is elected. Carrie Lam's mistake is incompetency. She should have gotten consensus before she introduced the bill. If in your view, there is no fairness in HK's system. Then why protest. It makes no difference where the trial is held. You can still be persecuted in HK.

@queenmonkeyhead Actually, HK has a electoral college system. So is the US, Trump has less than 50% of the votes. Netanyahu has 23% of the vote to become prime minister. HK constitution requires 2/3 of the total votes to change the system. Get the population to change the system if you want changes. Protest is not going to do it. Name me one government that will bend to a protest. There are laws and process. Protest is not going to do it. In New Hampshire, the governor refused to even execute a referendum passed by the voters. How's that for democracy in the US. The HK government is weak. They should never have withdrawn the bill. They should have put it to a vote. BTW, you are partially right. The basic law said chief executive should be elected AND appointed by China. Meaning China does not appoint the executive but China has veto power. Minor detail.

@zZeroRequieMm Bravo. Rule of Law. Of course rioters think all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

CCP are not communist any more. You don't have stock market in a communist country
3
@Tattle Boad You never heard of electoral college, Gerrymandering and the Koch brothers. Trump lost the popular vote by 3 millions. It is no better than HK. Do you know Jefferson , Missouri? Police there used tanks and live bullet to suppress protesters because they don't have hundreds of police.
3
@Tattle Boad It's a capitalist country. Are you asking for communism with price control and job assignment? This is not freedom.
3
No. Beijing could care less about HK. They need HK as a gateway. If you are in the business community, you will understand. They need stability. If SZ is more important productivity wise. But HK is the key finance center that needs be independent.
2
@Tattle Boad Did you read the extradition bill? It is very similar to Canadian and UK , and far more generous than the US version
2
@Tattle Boad What does that have to do with HK? In the US, politician answer to even less people.. They only have to answer to donors. NRA has less than 25% support gets to dictate gun policy because they have money.
2
Actually, Taiwanese think HK protesters are cowards. The student at the Sunflower movement never wore a mask. They said if you wore a mask , you are not standing by your conviction.
2
@Tattle Boad Really. I though Koch brothers picked our leaders

Alibaba was VC funded and a public company. Your statement is irresponsible and borderline racist.

Proof please.

@nemanjastankovic7200 you're right. Protest is simply a way to expression does not, cannot and should not change anything. You need someone with a vision to have a proposal to make a difference. Taking to the street is not making a difference. So far I haven't heard anything solid. Democracy and freedom does not by itself means anything. The Freedom caucus (teabaggers) are really freedom suppressing racist.

@EnerGRules Dude, you need to vote or nothing will change. Do you want to see more white nationalist? personally I don't want to see another 4 years of this. Vote.

@alfiey5783 A lot of people died in revolution. Martin Luther King inspired a whole nation without violence. Right now a lot of people lost their respect for protesters. American politicians have their own agenda. They will all changed their tune once Adelson and Wynn put pressure on them. Adelson and Wynn combined, donated more than $300M to the republicans. Their income came from Macau. You think they're gonna let you have a revolution?
1
@alfiey5783 Did the Brit gave HK democracy? I guessed I missed that. China let HKer have 64 demonstration for 25 years without incident. That's not freedom?
1
You understood nothing. Please read the HK common law and tell me what promises were broken. If it is then sue China at ICC.

@radioactivsmurf Trump is 72, biden 76, and Sanders is oooold.
1
@reggrundy2367 Thec legislation session is over. Meaning it can not be reintroduced. A new bill can be reintroduced even if it is withdrawn. Any way I am not aware of any process withdrawing the bill. Do you?

You are quite right. The HK police are actually a bunch of protesters too. Beating up protesters to try to get support for the protesters. And Carrie Lam is really a Skrull. And Trump is opening up the country for asylum seekers. Wakanda forever.
