You are sadly mistaken. It was Trump that can't keep a commitment. He just bailed out of the open sky treaty. Before that it was NAFTA, TPP, Iran, Paris accord, Intermediate Nuclear missile.

@anonymosphilos8912 How do you think HK and China should deal with foreign funding of the political parties? Or opposition lobbying for foreign country to sanction their own country? These are all currently legal. Aren't these national security issues? BTW, these are illegal in the US.

No. The declaration basically said followed the Basic Law.

HK is done. The phase 1 trade deal allowed US direct investment. And a second deal with EU is coming. HK is done.

@Cosmo1093 No, you got it wrong. The other half is elected by functionality groups. Dennis Kwok, an opposition leader was elected by that group. Universal suffrage has to do with election of the CE. CE is currently elected by electoral college similar to the US.

@anonymosphilos8912 Why is it every rioter/protester always expressed remorse? No one ever take responsibility for their own action not even Joshua Wong. I am still waiting for that one guy who would scream "FREE HK".

@anonymosphilos8912 Apple and oranges. These protesters went to court and said they did not want to do it, somebody else made them do it. joshua Wong's Wong's defense was he was too young to know any better and got a suspended sentence.

@icefrost5355 Singapore (not a democracy), Thailand, even UK. Even without this law, in 27 years it will be all Chinese law. If i were them , I'll quit free HK (it's already free), instead work on free China.
