You mean they are spoiled brats. I think the movement is more about Nationalism /fascism. This happening all over the world, in the US, UK, Europe. People blaming other people for their misfortune.

@WayneLinnlikestouseGeoGebra They hated anything mainland Chinese. They beat up a Japanese tourist because he couldn't speak Cantonese and they thought he's a mainlander. They destroyed Chinese Banks and Businesses. The president of Chinese University Student union called for deportation of all mainlanders, close their business and build a physical wall. They heckled a professor from the mainland in CU and won't let her speak. They tried to force a shop owner to hand over Mainland shoppers, so they can beat them up. There are many more examples.

@eddy-currents Don't have any facts eh? 50 cents cockroach

@nmbileg I did not know this until recently. These kids refused to admit they are even Chinese. This has nothing to do with CCP. CCP is just an excuse. I have seen a few video where they beat Mandarin speaking people. The airport incident, they beat up two mainlanders. What do you think HK independent is about? It is not about CCP. This is why a lot of kids have argument with their parent. Don't take my word. Try look at some of the comment and video. I was in HK about 3 months ago. I witnessed this first hand, well, on TV really..

@jryde421 Spoiled brats want everything handed to them. They have to ask US, UK to do the job for them. They don't want to be accountable for anything. Amnesty, I don't think so, no one can be above the law. The PolyU is a perfect example, they can't even clean up after themselves. They want to leave free without consequence after destroying the school.

@kryogenica4759 HKers already have freedom. The fear is when China takes over in 2047, they will lose that freedom because it is under Chinese rule. So if you work on freedom in China now, and when they have freedom, you will have it too in 2047. China has more freedom now than they had 30 years ago. So it is doable. Just logic.
5
It is not. Hong Kong will have no water and electricity to start. The two advocates that jumped bail and went to Germany already gave up because it is not practical or maybe they can't get any funding.
5
@WayneLinnlikestouseGeoGebra I do not believe in pre-judging people. But this seems to be a global trend. People in Canada is complaining about the same thing about HKers. Us is blaming Mexicans. We also have rising nationalism in Europe. I think people tends to play victims, and put all the blame on the new arrivals.

@gurungarman7908 Yes. In 1989 the Tienanmen Demonstration was supported by former premier Zhao and he ended up dying in prison. According to the newly unclassified report from CIA to Bush, the protest is really power struggle between the reformist (within the party) and the hard liners. Why did PLA used tanks in a protest? This is because Zhao actually controlled the local police and the local PLA. Fortunately or unfortunately, civil war did not break out. Deng's role is unclear. But he was forced into retirement soon after. The basic law was written by China during that time. China basically gave HK all the freedom it has today. Granted it was under a different regime. The CCP today might not be so kind. In the last 30 years, China actually gave more freedom to the people. As the economy improved, there are more freedom. I remembered long ago when I go to Shenzhen, I have to pass a check point. Because SZ is an economic zone, the pay is much better. So many Chinese tried to sneak into SZ. Two of the demands by the Tienanmen are freedom of movement and freedom of employment. Today the check point is gone and Chinese have those freedom. So yes it can be achieved. CCP craved stability. Riot and violence will not change a thing. So if there is prosperity and a leader such as Zhao, things can happen. 2047 is 30 years away.

@GENKI_INU Hate is never a good thing and can never be justified. How do you justify beating a Japanese tourist because he doesn't speak Cantonese and thus mistaken to be a mainlander? Are you aware there are many languages within the Guangdong province?
3
@kryogenica4759 Bingo. They should work with mainlander to get their freedom, so they can share the freedom in 2047. But instead they alienated the mainlanders by beating them if they can't speak Cantonese.
3
@WayneLinnlikestouseGeoGebra They beleived they took their jobs, inflated the real estate and in general look down on them.

@nmbileg https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/politics/article/2149127/no-moral-duty-attend-june-4-vigil-hong-kong-student-groups This article makes it very clear why they think they are not Chinese.
2
@eddy-currents Well, they are taking you folks in aren't they? Fascist would kick you guys out .
2
@eddy-currents Definition by Webster. a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition No, Fascist does not do affirmative action for the minority. They suppressed them by discrimination and segregation.
2
@gurungarman7908 I know violent protest does not work. No government will negotiate with terrorist. They do not want to establish precedent mob rule work.
2
@gurungarman7908 Dude, learn to read the newspaper. Last time I looked, they arrested 32 people and prosecuted 13. HK still have all the free speech rights and assembly right. Name one person that was arrested for free speech. Even Josh Wong and Denise Ho are still free spouting their propaganda. Are we still talking about HK? You got more fake news than Alex Jones.
2
@abc2390986 Jack Ma does not own SCMP, Alibaba does. Jack Ma is no longer with Alibaba. Don't look at who owned what, look at what they do. Their editorials are biased opions. But they provides different view points both left and tight. Well, I can't really tell what side are they on and often they got blasted by both sides. On the other hand, Apple daily and Tai Kung Pao, I can always tell what side they're on.
2
@nmbileg well, tomorrow if I have time I will try to did up some video for you. I can barely read any Chinese so I wouldn't know anything about Chinese media.
1
@drewmortenson Did I compare the immigration issue HK protest? No I'm talking about the rise of nationalism, HKers blaming Mainlanders for jobs, real estate. Canadians blaming HKers and American blaming Mexicans. You have to admit there is a rise of white nationalism in US.
1
@jryde421 There is no CCP law in HK only the British common law.
1
@gurungarman7908 You have a lot of conspiracy theory but no proof. Do you even know what freedom are these terrorist fighting for? Name one freedom that they don't have. One thing for sure nobody is talking about, they ain't fighting for the freedom of China. So don't even bother to bring China up.
1
@gurungarman7908 The attack is real. But the cops are some how colluding with the triad is a conspiracy.
1
@GoLeafszGo Dude, first of all China actually wrote the basic law. All the freedom you enjoyed today were given by CCP. Please name one freedom that was taken away since 1997. I bet you can't. Please read the basic law article 45. Universal suffrage was a goal, not a mandate. The pan-dem actually turned it down in 2014. The HK government was NOT appointed by China. Didn't you people just won by land slide? Were they appointed?
1
@gurungarman7908 I think it was the other way around. The terrorist want to destroy one country. Please elaborate what they are doing to destroy two systems.
1
@gurungarman7908 Yes you need a permit in the US and UK.
1
@gurungarman7908 I think they do more than that. They threw brick. They set people on fire. I'm not even gonna bother to name them all. That propaganda has been debunked so many times. Give it a break.
1
@gurungarman7908 Look at the trial dates. There are so many cockroaches the trail dates are way out there. The student leaders in 2014 were only sentenced 3 months ago. It took 5 years. BTW, what is the blue ribbon you keep talking about?
1
@abc2390986 They don't have to kneel, they already have freedom. Name one freedom they don't have. I bet you can't. If they want independence then just say so, don't hide behind the freedom mask.
1
Chloe Lin RT has a lot of fake news too. DW is biased except for their reporters in Germany. SCMP is probably the most neutral. Their editorial covered both end of the spectrum. Youtube is also full of fake news too. They report is accurate but not the truth because they omitted things. I made a comment on one of the scene in a Korean TV and they edited that scene out. I always try to confirm incredible news. For example the rioters beat up a Japanese tourist seemed unbelievable, but turns out it is true.
1
@MarioStahl1983 I do not believe violence will do the trick. If that is so, PLA already have its own country. I am not sure what the China policy should be. China has a lot of problems that no country want to have. But if people want a revolution , I say go for it. But HK independence is not real. Asking people to do your job for you is not wise. Even if sanction works, CCP is still in control. And I don't see these spoiled brat will take up arms and died for their cause. LOL. They don't even want to unmask. I think we agreed in facts and principle and disagree on tactic.
1
Omal, watch the video again. The terrorist were occupying the campus. The university had now canceled the semester because the campus is destroyed. And it will cost $1 to $1.5 billion to fix.
1
The rioters don't even know who wrote the basic law. It was China not UK that gave HK freedom.
