  11. They have different strategy. US forces are mostly offensive but they will not be sending troops on the ground. The last few wars they usedthe locals. China is more defensive. Their strength is in the mid range antiship missle and carrier killer. Their range can be as high as 4000Km. The goal is to stop US carriers from crossing the Pacific. So in theory China posed no danger to US unless it is a nuclear war.

In Pentagon simulation US lost 23 out of 24 times. The simulation is done with no attack on China mainland for fear of attack on the US mainland. Some strategist have suggested put attacking mainland back on the table. WWIII?

Look, it took CDC/WHO almost 10 years to figure out what the real number is on H1N1, the best we can hope for is to know trend, where is it going. Wuhan is done. We need to see how we can stop it going elsewhere. The real number is only for academic study only. The real data we need is to know what is needed. Do we need more medicine etc. We need to help but not nit picking the number.

China claimed the Islands NOT the sea. Why is there still fishing and shipping across the sea. I think first thing you need to do is read UNCLOS. UNCLOS does not say who own what or historic right. If you cannot cite ANY article China violated, then we have NO more discussion.

Again China calimed sovernty of the Spratley Islands, so for sure they can drill right there. THE NINE DASH LINE is to cover all the islands. If China claimed the water there will be NO shipping in the area. Just show me the Sino Franco treaty did not happen in 1895, and then you will be right.

  30. Correction. PRC was founded on Oct 1 1949. Mao etc was part of KMT in the 1930 included by Dr Sun. After Dr Sun Died, Chiang killed thousands of left leaning KMT (the current CCP) in the Shanghai massacre in 1937. CCP is really a spin off of KMT/ROC.

  35.  @theguy3500  It is not the percentage but the absolute dollar. China's military budget is 2% but they have a large economy. EU is too gramented or they would have a pan-Europe Army. With the larger economy and planned spending you will have a much more efficient army and money will go further. Unless you are like US paying for a $85,000 trash can or spent a trillion dollar and still can't get F35 off the ground. Ah yes, US has a 5% defense budget but they don't know where $2T worth of asset went. Yes I am a bitter American.

The deficit with China is actually increasing despite tariff cuz US has no consumer manufacturing and will not sell machinery like tractors and semiconductor equipment to China. Only product that is significant are agriculture. US is more expensive than Brazil and also uses banned pesticide. So what can China buy? Services. What is not in the equation is service. American's big four accounting firms dominated Chinese market because perception is their audit is more transparent. Trump as usual is full of hot air. The mineral embargo is gonna hit US hard. DoD already spent 1,2B to mine Antimony in Idaho. Antimony is used for ammo.
