Sanction and ban are coming. US has to have the Stargate.
1
And there will be lots of unemployment. Manufacturing will move to Mexico because they will no longer be able to buy Chinese component.
1
They are also giving money to TSMC as well. And you still need the raw silicon which China produce 80 to 90% of them. Maybe we need to have a better strategy than just give money away. We need better education and training. Investment/subsidy to the non-profitable mining operation,
1
Germany attacked US ships. That's one of the reasons.
1
@herneyse11 You are using AI to google?
1
Global Foundry is a Taiwan company that needs investment to compete with TSMC
1
So you want to make your product more expensive
1
Chinese owned made in Sweden. Smithfield is also Chinese owned based in Dakota. And Chinese also own the Panama canal.
1
@icu17siberia You know there is a thing call Google. Being ignorant is not a strength.
1
It is more complicated than that. We are also giving money to foreign company and there is no provision that they can't use their money to use it else where. You are talking about companies that are already making billions of dollars
1
@sunmand6136 No. The union stopped it. One of the reason for lack of talent.
1
@matthewcoreyhall In theory . you are correct. But US has a counter strategy. The China initiative. They were supposed to catch spys that are stealing IP. They indicted 400 scientist, prosecute about 30 and convicted none. Results 4000 scientists moved back to China. They included top AI and quantum computer expert. The program was stopped but damage is done. 62% of the scientists are leaning towards moving to China. Good job Biden.
1
You can keep her
1
@maxisjordan2756 Well they can compete in China. Why can't they compete with China in US? I think they can. They just don't want to. Americans are easier to rip off with aid of the government.
1
Inflation. China only import 0.4% of US steel. US increase the tariff to 25%. Now US steel puice can go up another 25%
1
@daviddupond8626 They have proposed to ban open source CPU and LLM before.
1
@Mrinternational89 They can just ban any product that use it. They are trying that wirh RISC V
1
@mudshovel289 China can't build chips without equipment. And US is not selling them any. China is just a BS excuse.
1
So what they are open source.
1
Is there IP on steel? Really? Wait there's steel worker union
1
Samsung can do 3nm as well
1
@Amidat The past sin is only copying the command line interface that no one used.
1
Please enlighten me how is China hostile to US. By loaning US a Trillion dollars? It is actually the other way.
1
The semiconductor industry in Taiwan is already complaining there is not enough talent in Taiwan. Main reason, they moved to China for better opportunity
1
So you are for the two trillion bailout. Did you also support Obama's $800B bailout?
1
No, only 49%. Most people that don't make enough to pay tax do not get a check. In the mean time TRump Organization is getting bailout of forgivable loan.
1
I rememver IT guy told me he just got 1G for the company
1
@chunhaylee We are going to send them home soon and replaced them with Americans.
1
Finally somebody spoke the truth.
1
@ImpermanentWater Tiktok is more American than TSMC. LOL
1
No, only those people that pay tax. Basically poor people are getting f**ked.
1
The government is too old. If this administartion is in the 80, we would still be paying $2000 for a XT
1
@kennyng2289 HK will be under Chinese rule. If HKers want lasting democracy, they should go to china and protest.
1
The sad thing is they used to have that rule. The really sad thing is not the fab that need help. China can still shut down the fab by not shipping any raw silicon and we are doing nothing about it. Because you don't billions to mine quartz.
1
@crystalpoindex You can't. They are voting on a shell bill. Basically trust me bill
1
I worked for TJ years ago. I was aked to secure some funding for a project. I got a $400K grant from the government. And he turned it down. The guy is a principle libertarian. Google his law suit with the nuns. It was very interesting.
1
Yes. After the chip act we'll need a weapon act, oil act, pharma act. There are threats from China threat everywhere
1
It is unfair for me to pay more
1
Their customers are AMD. NXP and Infineon. Two out of three are European. And Global need to compete with TSMC in Germany. Intel and Micron are holding out negotiating terms for their Chinese business. It is a bad Biden move. TJ Rogers was right.
1
@ No Trump doesn't care. He has no idea what a nm is. He wants a money making business, And he doesn;t want Intel fab to go under under his watch.
1
@leoxiao2751 Well they are building cars in Mexico. Tariff on Mexico too or learn to build cars efficiently. BTW, this happens in the 80s, Japnese were beating US in cars.
1
Try unemployment.
1
Things don't happen over night. Trump showed US cannot be trusted as an ally and they needed to be more independent. Biden basically continued Trump policy and blew up Norstream. What friend do that?
1
@hengzi-cartoon The French Nobel prize math winner just moved to China
1
Where can you buy one? Stop believe propaganda.
1
Bad translation I think.
1
@inquisitvem6723 US will exempt TSMC regardless. Or American chips will no longer be competitive
1
US is also raising tariff on them. Biden is not serious about the environment or inflation? You know why US is scared? EV are selling in China for $15K a pop.
