I tell men that they are responsible for creating the life they deserve—don’t complain about the problems you allowed into your life. Most complaints or horror stories come down to poor choices. A Thai partner shouldn’t expect you to take care of her entire extended family, except in emergencies. Personally, I’ve helped in situations like paying for funerals, rebuilding a house after a fire, and supporting my Thai sister-in-law, who has terminal cancer. I always verify stories before offering financial help, and I’ve learned the importance of saying no when necessary. Preparation is key to building a better life overseas. If you can’t find happiness abroad, it usually means the problem lies within you.
